This section offers a variety of Owatrol solutions to all the most common problems found on decking, wooden garden furniture, cladding etc.

New Wood:
If you've got new wood to take care of, check out Seasonite. Often not a good idea to apply oils etc too soon. See Refine Search: New Wood Treatment below.

Weathered / dirty decking / hardwood garden furniture, cladding... NOT previously treated or any oil that was applied has long since burned off:
Weathered or dirty wood can easily be brought back to like with (Owatrol) Net-Trol. It is very easy to use and brings astonishing results. See Refine Search: Untreated Wood - Faded & Dirty below.

Weathered / dirty decking / hardwood garden furniture, cladding... Previously Oiled / treated:
Unlike the Net-Trol solution above, for a proper solution you must deal with any remaining oils hidden beneath the surface prior to re-oiling etc. Aquanet or the stronger Prepdeck will 'strip out' any remaining decking oils, teak oils etc. See Refine Search: Decking Oil Peeling Off Below.

TIP: BEFORE you decide which solution you think might suit your situation, carry out this simple (no-cost) test... Place a few drops of water on various sections of the (dry) wood and leave for 15 minutes or so. Then check to see if water droplets have soaked in or still remain on the surface of the wood. If the water has soaked in - Net-Trol (above) will do a good job. If water did not soak in, it means some previous coating / oils are still present and you need something stronger like Prepdeck or Aquanet to strip out any hidden oils etc.

Decking Oils Peeling Off, Gathering in Grooves etc:
A most annoying and common problem but surprisingly easy to solve when you know how and you have the correct material and method.
Asuming you have oil decking oils / teak oils etc that have peeled off the 'high spots' are are congealed in the grooves, the problem exists because whatever oil you applied previously did not penetrate the wood, a common problem with low priced decking oils.
The solution is to strip off the remaining (above and below the surface) decking oil with either Aquanett or the more powerful Prepdeck. Note: When you use either Aquanett or Prepdeck, you must Neutralise the wood surface with Net-Trol diluted 4:1 with water prior to re-oiling. This is to avoid a reaction between the new oil and the stripper used to remove the previous coating. See Refine Search: Decking Oil Peeling Off Below.

Paint / Stains you want to remove from wooden decking etc:
If you want to strip out / remove coatings on your wood that could be described more as 'on the surface finishes' you would probably get the best result with (Owatrol) Dilunett which is an Eco friendly paint stripper. Note: As with Prepdeck / Aquanett above, after stripping wood with Dilunett, you must neutralise the wood with Net-Trol diluted 4:1 with water to prevent a reaction with subsequent / replacement coatings / oils later. Check out Owatrol Dilunett Paint Stripper below.

Hardwood Garden Furniture, Decking etc:
It is difficult to get any oils into Hardwoods such as teak, Ipe, Iroko, Mahogony etc because the wood is so dense. If your wood is new, check for factory protective wax and remove same or allow to weather prior to oiling.
Assuming your hardwood is clean and dry, 'feed the wood' with several coats of Deks Olje D1 which is the most penetrating wood treatment /oil available. D1 is clear (looks like wood when wet). It will fade in time but your wood will be protected from water ingress.
D1 leaves a satin finish. Tip: If you want to add some extra anti-UV protection to help retain that natural look, apply a coat or two of Textrol Golden Oak after about six months when the D1 has weathered somewhat. See Deks Olje D1 +/- Textrol below.
