Insulating Additive for All Paints

Like most insulating type products, better in some areas than others. I mixed it with masonry paint and painted a section of the outside of my house and it appears to be quite effective. Because of the granular nature of thermalite you have to be careful if you want a paint finish wall, for which I would recommend further coats of un-thermalite paint on top. A recommended use would be under lining paper before wallpapering externals walls; this appears to be very effective measure against cold walls, especially older solid type walls. “I used the Thermilate powder in 2 locations but one was my rented-out house so cannot give feedback on thermal results. The second location was a very damp bathroom with a north facing wall. I spoke to the manager of Brewers in Tunbridge Wells where I have an account. We decided I should mix the powder with a water-based eggshell so that the surface could not absorb any moisture to grow mould in (a very mouldy bathroom,by the way). The ceiling had 2 coats and was 100% successful. The walls only got one coat and after about 1 year the mould is breaking through and I'm about to clean that off and put the second coat on. I am talking about an extreme environment here! Colour: Whilst the powder looks like it will affect the paint shade, it does not. If it does, it's by an infinitely small amount. Mixing: It mixed with the two types of paint I used very well and stays bound in the paint whilst you are using it. Application: The second coat is a bit hard going, feeling like a cross between painting and plastering but for most fit decorators, I doubt they would notice that much. The benefits far outweigh this though. I would use it in problem areas again but in future will be working on buildings where I can control the vapour permeabilty of the walls and so would be keen to hear from you if any work has been done on whether this type of paint/powder is vapour permeable or not.” Best wishes

I purchased the Thermilate granules to use in my parents Holiday Chalet.  This is a cold enviroment in general. However, the walls no longer have the usual cold/damp feel to them they had before using the paint additive.  We found it very easy to use and it left a very nice finish to the walls & ceilings.  When the heating is turned on, the Chalet does warm up a lot faster.   We are going to use it on the exterior next year to increase the benefits. Thermilate was extremely easy to use, the instructions were very clear, I simply poured it into the paint and stirred. It seemed to have cured the problem, and it actually had a fantastic added benefit for me. I decided to measure the temperature difference in the room, and to my amazement, I found that previously the average temperature in the room was 15c and now it is actually 18c, this was throughout the winter season.
